Mr. John Whitehead is counsel to Corsianos Lee. He has practiced law for over 20 years. Mr. Whitehead obtained his law degree from the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2001.

Mr. Whitehead was called to the South African bar at Pretoria in 1979 and practiced first as an Assistant State Attorney in Johannesburg and then as a Senior Assistant State Attorney in Durban in the province of Natal. He immigrated to Canada in 1995 and between 1996 and 2000 he worked as a Court Registrar in the Civil, Commercial and Surrogate Courts of the Superior Court of Justice in downtown Toronto. John's experience in South Africa covered a wide range of civil disputes including the state as a plaintiff and defendant. Mr. Whitehead's experiences in a common law jurisdiction and his education at Michaelhouse in South Africa have equipped him well for his current general litigation practice. Mr. Whitehead's experience in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice noted above gives him unique insight into the practice of civil litigation in Ontario.

Since his call to the Ontario Bar, Mr. Whitehead has handled real estate disputes, employment matters, construction disputes, wrongful death, solicitors' negligence, injunctions and contractual disputes. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario. Mr. Whitehead has extensive trial experience and regularly appears on motions and applications in the Superior Court of Justice. He appears as counsel in appeals in the Ontario Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has acted as counsel before administrative tribunals and at arbitrations. He has also appeared before the Pension Appeal Court in England.

Mr. Whitehead is an active member of Oakville Lodge No. 400 AM and retains a particular interest in history, which he studies enthusiastically.
